Your files
Every file you add is processed on your own device, inside your browser. Images, videos, audio, PDFs and HEIC photos are never uploaded to a server. When you close the tab, they are gone.
What is downloaded
The page and its processing engines (for example the video engine or the HEIC decoder) are downloaded from tool.cexagon.com when a file needs them, and cached by your browser. No file data is sent back.
What is stored
Your settings (theme, last level, last destination) are saved in your browser's local storage so they are there next time. Passwords for locked PDFs are never stored. If you install cextool as an app, its pages are cached on your device for offline use.
Analytics and tracking
cextool uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites and does not see your files. It records things like the page visited, the referring site, the country and the browser type. There is no advertising. Cloudflare also keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, to run and protect the service.
Metadata
By default, results have EXIF metadata removed, including GPS location and camera details. You can switch this off to keep it.
